Hall posts career-high 30 points, five finish in double-digit scoring in T’Wolves home win versus Jayhawks

Thanks to five players finishing in double-digit scoring, including a career-high 30 points from Azriel Hall, SUNY Niagara recorded a third straight win in WNYAC play with a 98-63 win versus Jamestown CC Saturday in Sanborn. This was the second and final regular-season meeting as the Thunderwolves picked up an 85-61 road win over the Jayhawks on Jan. 28.

This marked the third of four WNYAC contests this season for SUNY Niagara, which improved to 14-8 and 3-0 in the conference. The Thunderwolves have won eight of their last 12 games since a 90-30 win versus Villa Maria College on Nov. 23 and are 6-2 since the start of the calendar year. The Thunderwolves have posted 10-win campaigns in 13 of the last 14 seasons (since 2012-13). 

SUNY Niagara trailed Jamestown CC 15-13 at the end of the first quarter and held onto a 31-29 lead through the midway point of the second quarter. The Thunderwolves used a 10-0 run in the last 3 minutes, 22 seconds, including two of Hall’s three 3-pointers, to build a 41-29 halftime lead. 

The Jayhawks cut the deficit to 50-45 with 5:30 left in the third quarter before the blue-and-gold ended the frame on a 17-6 run. The Thunderwolves then outscored Jamestown CC 31-12 in the fourth quarter.

After posting a 27-point night during SUNY Niagara’s first encounter with Jamestown CC 10 days ago, Hall posted 30 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field, along with six rebounds and three assists. The Lockport native went 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, adding to her season-high 5-of-7 performance in the first meeting, and is now tied for 18th among all NJCAA Div. II players with her team-high 19.2 points per game

Isabella Karabetsos scored a season-high 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting and went 2-of-5 from the three-point line and added a team-high seven assists. The sophomore finished one point shy of her career-high in points when she scored 21 in a 73-63 loss to CCBC Essex on Feb. 2, 2025. 

Atarah Walker recorded her 14th career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Walker also finished in double-digit scoring in a fifth straight outing this season and the sixth time in her last nine games (10th overall) 

Anna Astre finished with 11 points in her 15th start of the season and Shania Beylo had 10 points and three assists in 20 minutes off the bench. Alana Rivers had seven points and five rebounds, Ava Bull added three points and five rebounds, Allison Milleville had two points and six rebounds and Adriana Kennedy had two rebounds.

SUNY Niagara shot 38-of-69 (55.1%) from the field, went 9-of-22 (40.9) from the 3-point line and converted 13 of 22 attempts at the free-throw line (59.1%). The Thunderwolves also recorded 19 assists and 13 steals.

  • SUNY Niagara is now 27-3 against Jamestown CC over the last 10 seasons (since 2016-17). The Thunderwolves have also won 14 consecutive meetings since the 2021-22 campaign. 

 

  • This was the ninth time SUNY Niagara scored at least 90 points in a contest this season. The Thunderwolves are 8-1 when they hit the mark. The lone loss came in a 106-101 double overtime defeat against Beaver County CC on Nov. 22. SUNY Niagara posted its season-high in scoring in a 112-48 finish against Lackawanna College on Nov. 1.

 

  • SUNY Niagara is 4-1 when at least five players reach double-digit scoring. The Thunderwolves’ season-high was seven during a 100-45 win at Lorain CC on Dec. 20 (Astre, Hall, Beylo, Walker, Rivers, Bull, Karabetsos).

  • In her 50th career appearance, Walker recorded her 14th career double-double (sixth this season) and did so in consecutive games for the second time in her sophomore campaign (Nov. 22-23). In the last two seasons, SUNY Niagara is 12-2 when the former Niagara Falls High School star records a double-double. Walker has now recorded 443 points and 449 rebounds in her Thunderwolves career and is tied for 34th in rebounds per game among NCJAA Division II players (team-high 9.2 per game) 

 

  • In just 22 career games, Hall has recorded 422 points (team-high 19.2) and 112 rebounds (5.1) in 28.9 minutes per contest. Hall joins 2020 graduate Paige Emborsky as the only SUNY Niagara women’s basketball players to score at least 400 points in their freshman year over the last 10 seasons (since 2016-17). Emborsky, who later finished at NCAA Division I Abilene University and NCAA Division II Daemen University, scored 530 points as a freshman in 2018-19 and finished with 1,011 points in her two-year Thunderwolves career, which ranks third all-time behind 2023 graduate Alaina Forbes (1,032) and 1998 graduate Michelle Milleville (1,029).    

 

  • Along with extending her streak of double-digit scoring to 22 games, Hall converted at least 10 shots in a game for the fourth time this season (10 vs Corning Dec. 3, 11 vs Herkimer College Jan. 6, 10 at Jamestown CC Jan. 28). Hall also posted at least five rebounds in a game for the 16th time this season (SUNY Niagara is 11-5).

  • Following Saturday’s win, Karabetsos has recorded at least five assists in a contest for the 15th time this season (35th in her career). She also has reached double-digit points in nine of SUNY Niagara’s last 10 games since a 12-point outing in a 75-47 loss versus Schoolcraft College on Dec. 14. 

 

  • Now with 128 assists, Karabetsos is one of 21 players in NJCAA Division II with at least 100 this season and is sixth overall. Waubonsee CC’s Niallie Evans leads with 167. SUNY Niagara is 11-4 this season and 30-5 over the last two seasons when Karabetsos recorded at least five assists in a game.

 

  • A sophomore guard from Brampton, Ontario, Karabetsos has recorded 575 points and 322 assists in 54 career games. Karabetsos joins 2023 graduate Aichata Ballo as the only SUNY Niagara women’s basketball players with at least 500 career points and 300 assists in a career over the last 10 seasons (since 2016-17). Ballo recorded 809 points and 389 assists in 81 career games from 2020-2023. 

 

  • Astre recorded her 13th double-digit game of the season with her 11 points and her 11th in her last 13 outings. The freshman from The Bronx, NY scored a season-high 22 points in SUNY Niagara’s 69-61 win versus Montgomery College (MD) on Jan. 18 and is averaging 11.5 points and 4.7 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per contest.

  • With 10 points in 20 minutes off the bench, Beylo reached double-digit scoring for the seventh time this season and had her highest output since she scored 15 in SUNY Niagara’s back-to-back wins against Herkimer (88-61 Jan. 6) and Lakeland CC (84-56 Jan. 12). Beylo also recorded her fifth game with at least three assists. Previously a Section IV Class AA runner-up with Binghamton High School last year, Beylo is averaging 7.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 21.8 minutes per contest with SUNY Niagara.

 

  • Bull recorded five rebounds in a game for the 19th time this season and has crossed 10 seven times in her sophomore campaign. After 54 career games, Bull has posted 424 points and 426 rebounds with SUNY Niagara. The sophomore and Burlington, Ontario native is averaging 7.3 points and 7.7 rebounds in 24.7 minutes per contest this season.

 

  • SUNY Niagara is now 12-1 when it has at least 15 assists in a game this season. The Thunderwolves’ season-high in this category remains 27 from a 100-65 win at WVU Potomac State College on Nov. 7. 

 

  • At 55.1% (38-of-69), SUNY Niagara recorded its best shooting percentage of the season, surpassing its 52.7% (39-of-74) finish in its 100-65 win versus WVU Potomac State College on Nov. 7. The Thunderwolves have shot at least 40% in a game 14 times this season and a seventh time in its last nine games. 

 

  • Saturday marked the 41st win with sophomores Isabella Karabetsos, Atarah Walker and Ava Bull on SUNY Niagara’s active roster (41-13 overall). Last season, SUNY Niagara finished 27-5, won a seventh consecutive NJCAA Region III Div. II championship and appeared at the NJCAA national tournament for the fifth time in program history. 

 

SUNY Niagara is idle until its regular season home finale versus Lakeland CC at Noon Feb. 15 in Sanborn. The Thunderwolves won the first meeting with the Lakers, 84-56, on Jan. 12. Sunday is also the last regular-season home contest for sophomores Ava Bull, Isabella Karabetsos and Atarah Walker. The Thunderwolves conclude their regular season and WNYAC slate at Monroe CC at 1 p.m. Feb. 21 in Troy. SUNY Niagara won the first meeting, 90-69, on Feb. 4 in Sanborn.
