Thunderwolves knock off Saints

Niagara County Community College used a second-half surge to push past visiting Mercyhurst North East 81-50 on Tuesday night. The No. 13-ranked Thunderwolves, who out-scored the Saints 46-23 after intermission, improve to 21-1 overall and 2-0 in Western New York Athletic Conference play.

Sophomore forward Albanellys Perez led the way with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Classmate Ana Valerie Odom added 11 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals. Freshman Peyton Butts had 11 points and fellow first-year player Alliyah Gillespie chipped in with nine points, six assists and four steals.

NCCC assisted on 25 of its 31 field goals and shot 54 percent from the field over the final 20 minutes. Next up is a home date with unbeaten No. 2 Monroe CC. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
