Manth breaks program’s modern era stolen bases record during Erie series, Thunderwolves go 0-4 in final weekend of April

SUNY Niagara dropped four consecutive contests over the weekend. The Thunderwolves lost to Erie Community College, 6-2 in seven innings and 8-0 in six innings on April 24, and followed up with defeats against Hudson Valley Community College (8-7 and 10-3) on April 26.
Sophomore Quinn Manth recorded her 79th career stolen base during the 8-0 loss in Game Two on April 24 against Erie Community College and passed 2018 graduate Ana Bryer for the program’s stolen bases record in the modern era (since 2013). Manth later recorded a stolen base during the Hudson Valley Community College series and now has 80 in 58 career games.
SUNY Niagara is now 12-16 and 11-8 in NJCAA Region III action. This is the Thunderwolves’ first 10-win season since 2023 and the fourth this decade (11 in 2021, 31 in 2022, 26 in 2023).
Weather permitting, SUNY Niagara continues its regular season with a Sophomore Day doubleheader versus Mohawk Valley Community College at 1 p.m. Saturday in Sanborn. The regular season concludes with a doubleheader versus Genesee Community College at 10 a.m. Sunday in Sanborn.
April 24, 2026
Game One: Erie Community College 6, SUNY Niagara 2
Miranda Shingleton and Molly Syposs both recorded two hits each and scored a run apiece. Syposs also drove in a run.
Lauren Kisloski also recorded a hit and drove in one run. Gianna Simone and Caitlyn Hanley recorded a hit each.
Hanley also threw all seven innings for the Thunderwolves and allowed three earned runs on nine hits along with five strikeouts and four walks.
Game Two: Erie Community College 8, SUNY Niagara 0, Final, 6 Innings
The Thunderwolves only recorded five hits in the loss. Quinn Manth, Molly Syposs, Caitlyn Hanley, Mia Herman and Gianna Simone had one hit apiece.
Marissa Shingleton threw 5.1 innings and allowed five earned runs on 12 hits along with four strikeouts and three walks.
April 26, 2026
Game One: Hudson Valley Community College 8, SUNY Niagara 7
Grace Schindler, Mia Herman and Gianna Simone all recorded two hits apiece in the loss. Schindler drove in a run, Herman scored twice and Simone scored once.
Quinn Manth and Molly Syposs both had one hit, drove in two runs each, and scored one run apiece. Miranda Shingleton (one hit) and Lauren Kisloski each drove in one run.
Emmilie Sypherd and Cailtyn Hanley had one hit each. Hanley also threw six innings in the circle for the Thunderwolves and allowed five earned runs on 11 hits, struck out three and walked two.
Game Two: Hudson Valley Community College 10, SUNY Niagara 3
Quinn Manth and Gianna Simone both had two-hit outings. Miranda Shingleton and Grace Schindler drove in a run each.
Schindler, Caitlyn Hanley, Lauren Kisloski and Emmilie Sypherd had one hit apiece. Eva Lacy scored a run.
Marissa Shingleton threw six innings and allowed six earned runs on 10 hits along with one strikeout and five walks. Madison Bainbridge threw the seventh and allowed one run on two hits along with one strikeout and one walk.
