Thunderwolves win regional links title
SUNY Niagara won its second consecutive Region III Championship on Tuesday afternoon at the Par-72 Glen Oak Golf Club. The Thunderwolves amassed 633 total strokes (319-314), which was eight clear of runner-up Hudson Valley CC (641). It is the men's golf program's fourth regional title in the past five seasons. The Thunderwolves will now compete in the NJCAA Div. III Championships on June 3-6 at Chautauqua Golf Club.
Sophomore Eliel Rodriguez brought home medalist honors after firing rounds of 77 and 75 for a two-day total of 152 strokes. Classmate Ryan Kates was third (75-80-155), freshman Anthony Gagliardi took seventh (81-81-162), freshman Finn Graham finished ninth (86-78-164) and sophomore Teddy Swiech came in 15th (87-81-168). All five Thunderwolves earned All-Region distinction due to their top-15 finish.
Following the tournament, head coach Matthew Oleski was named Region III Coach of the Year for the second straight spring.
