SUNY Niagara golfers bring home regional title

SUNY Niagara ran away from the field at the two-day Region III Championships hosted by the Par-72 Glen Oak Golf Club. The Thunderwolves had 633 total strokes (323-310), which was 38 better than runner-up Hudson Valley Community College (671). It is the men's golf program's third regional title in the past four seasons. SUNY Niagara will now compete in the NJCAA Div. III Championships on June 4-7 at Chautauqua Golf Club. 

All five freshmen members of the Wolfpack earned All-Region recognition led by Eliel Rodriguez, who was individual runner-up after firing rounds of 77 and 74 (151). Jamestown Community College's Brady Fye (75-74-149) was the medalist. Also for SUNY Niagara, Adam Firkins was third (77-78-155), Ryan Kates took eighth (87-76-163), Teddy Swiech finished ninth (82-83-165) and Charlie Nuttle came in 15th (90-82-172). 

Following the event, SUNY Niagara head coach Matthew Oleski was honored as Region III Coach of the Year.
