SUNY Niagara swept past visiting SUNY Broome in a best-of-3 sub-regional series this past weekend at Sal Maglie Stadium.
The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 2 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, improved to 46-0 overall.
The T-Wolves head to the Region III Final Four, which is set for Thurs. - Sat. in Auburn, NY.
SUNY Niagara 11, SUNY Broome 1 (6 inn.)
Freshman Matt Barr moved to 8-0 on the year as he allowed just two hits and struck out seven in six innings of work. Freshman Mike Schaefer was 4-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored to lead the offense. Classmate Dalton Harper went 3-for-4 with two triples, a double, an RBI and four runs scored, sophomore Nigel Sebastianelli finished 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, freshman Cooper Rossano had a home run and triple and sophomore Christopher Finocchario was 2-for-3 with a solo home run.
SUNY Niagara 8, SUNY Broome 0 (7 inn.)
Sophomore Eric Woodley tossed a three-hit shutout with eight Ks. The right-hander is now 7-0 on the season. Sophomore Braden Hill, Rossano and Harper each had two RBIs in the win. Sophomore Gavyn Boyle went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Sebastianelli crossed the plate twice.
