T-Wolves split with Corning CC

Niagara County Community College earned an important split at perennial Region III power Corning Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Thunderwolves improved to 5-18 overall, but more importantly 3-1 in regional play. Next up is a home date with rival Erie CC. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday.

Niagara CCC 7, Corning CC 6

Sophomore Vicki Waugaman was 3-for-3 with two RBIs as the Thunderwolves hung on for the win. Freshman Katey Matteson was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, sophomore Sydney Parker had two RBIs and scored twice and classmate Ana Bryer finished 3-for-4. Freshman Bree Chambers went the distance, finishing with eight Ks.

Corning CC 11, Niagara CCC 4

Sophomore Sam Jurczak was 3-for-3 with a home run and double in defeat. Bryer again went 3-for-4, while Matteson and Parker each had an RBI and scored a run.
